‘A family of six!’ Michael Phelps and Nicole Johnson have added a new member to their family. The couple welcomed their fourth child together a baby boy named Nico Michael Phelps.

Nico was born on the 16th of January 2024.

On Monday, January 22, the Olympic gold medalist, 38, took to Instagram to share the happy news that they are now proud parents to four.

He shared an adorable photo of the two cradling their new infant, who was wrapped in a blanket, as Phelps held him adoringly while Nicole stood next to him.

Similarly, he captions the post by simply writing,

“@mrs.nicolephelps and I wanna welcome Nico Michael Phelps to the world. Born on 1/16, We’re so blessed to be given a 4th child. We’re now a family of 6!”

Nico is joined by his three elder siblings Boomer, 7, Beckett, 5, and Maverick, 5.

In October, the pair announced Nicole’s pregnancy that they were expecting their sixth child together. However, the couple didn’t disclose the sex of the baby until the following month.

In a November 2023 interview with Today.com, Johnson shared,

“I would have loved to have a daughter for Michael so he could have that father-daughter bond that I experienced growing up. But I strongly believe you’re given what you’re supposed to have, and I’m really excited to have another boy.”

Nicole is the only girl at her home. People showed sympathy towards Nicole when she disclosed the sex of her fourth child saying she “needs” a daughter.

However, she slammed the netizen for such comments, stating,

“No, I really don’t, The sweetest thing is how genuinely excited the boys are to meet their brother, Having four boys will be crazy but wonderful.”

Similarly, the retired swimmer revealed the model has no problem being the only girl at home in a 2019 interview with the PEOPLE. He said at the time,

“I think Nicole said something along the lines of, like’I’m so lucky to have a house full of boys and no girls’, and Boomer looked at her and said, ‘Mommy, you’re the girl in our house.’ So we’ve been saying that and it’s true, she’s the queen,”
