Anna Paulina Luna was born in Santa Ana, California on May 6, 1989. As of 2023, her age is 33. She was born to architect George Mayerhofer and elementary school teacher and stay-at-home mother Monica Todd.

Her mother is of Mexican-American descent, and her father is of Mexican and German descent. Luna’s parents never married.

She has claimed that her father was a drug addict and that when she was 10, she discovered his meth stash. Her father died in a car crash in January 2022.

The politician, who was born with the surname “Mayerhofer,” has just recently begun to publicly embrace her Hispanic background. She listed as “White, not of Hispanic heritage” when she registered to vote in Florida in 2015.

Her ethnicity was changed to “Hispanic” when she re-registered to vote in Washington State in 2019.

“I would like to represent my Hispanic heritage and have the same last name as my mother.”
