Prince released his debut album ‘For You’, in 1978. His singles ‘Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?’ and ‘I Wanna Be Your Lover’ from the same album went to the top singles. He has gained success with many albums such as  ‘Dirty Mind’ in 1980 and ‘Controversy’ in 1981.

He released the album Purple Rain’ in 1984 which sold more than 13 million copies in the US and was able to stand at no.1 on the Billboard 200 chart for 24 consecutive weeks. He also appeared in a rock musical drama film ‘Purple Rain’ making his film debut which became a cult classic.

He started performing for a new band, the New Power Generation. He recorded many famous albums such as ‘Parade’ (1986), ‘Sign o’ the Times’ (1987), ‘Lovesexy’ (1988), ‘Batman’ (1989), and ’Musicology’(2004), and many more.

His career ended at the age of 57 when he was found dead in an elevator on April 21, 2016.
