Princess Catherine wore Princess Diana’s emerald choker at the 2022 Earthshot Prize
Princess Catherine was a vision in green at the Earthshot Prize 2022 in Boston.
The new Princess of Wales looked stunning in a bright green gown which she borrowed from a British brand called Solace London.
But one piece of jewelry caught everybody’s eyes and that was the late Princess Diana‘s iconic pieces of jewelry.
Catherine’s long-sleeved, off-the-shoulder Solace London Sabina dress costs $525. She borrowed it from the rental platform Hurr and matched the event’s green carpet as she and Prince William arrived at the MGM Music Hall.
Thousands of fans gathered to cheer and welcome the royals who were happy to see the exciting crowd.
The princess wore her shiny locks down with soft waves and wore dazzling drop earrings. She also honored her late mother-in-law by wearing her emerald-and-diamond choker necklace that the late royal wore on multiple occasions.
The late princess also wore the choker as a headband once in 1985.
The iconic piece of jewelry that once belonged to Queen Mary has never been seen since Princess Diana wore it last.
The valuable choker was created ”by redesigning an emerald and diamond necklace that was presented to Mary during the Delhi Durbar in 1911,” as per The Court Jeweller.
William and Catherine’s effort to protect the environment
Along with Diana’s famous necklace, Catherine’s green outfit also reminded fans of a bright green gown Diana wore alongside the same choker during a Malaysian state visit in 1993.
Charlie Proctor, editor-in-chief of Royal Central praised Catherine’s style for the big event. He said:
“It’s very brave of the Princess of Wales to attend an event wearing a greenscreen,”
“I guarantee people will have a lot of fun!
The Prince of Wales, on the other hand, looked dapper in a velvet tuxedo jacket and black pants for his annual environmental prize ceremony.
For last year’s Earthshot Awards, Catherine wore a decade-old Alexander McQueen gown. The Princess originally wore it to a BAFTA event in LA shortly after her and William’s royal wedding in 2011.
This year, the princess received lots of compliments for choosing a sustainable, rented dress for the event.
The ceremony was a big event with many stars like David Beckham, Billie Eilish, Chloe X Halle, Rami Halle, Rami Malek, and Annie Lennox in attendance.
The environmental prize was the idea of the new Prince of Wales that happened in Boston this year. Environmental changemakers in the categories of clean air, climate change, nature protection, ocean revival, and waste elimination received $1.2 million.
The royal couple has been very active in creating awareness about the environment.
