Reese Witherspoon reunites with her first husband

Reese Witherspoon will do anything for her kids, even if that takes reuniting with her ex.

The actress and her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe were both there to celebrate their son Deacon‘s new music career last Friday.

Proud dad, Phillippe, shared a carousel of photos from the celebratory event, where he urged fans to stream his son’s new album.

The Big Sky star wrote,

“Awesome night w family & friends celebrating the release of, ‘A New Earth’ by @deaconphillippe,”
“Stream, download, and listen to the album.”

One of the photos showed the father and son hooking arms around each other. The 48-year-old actor kept his look simple in a plain white T-shirt with a red, black, and white sweater.

The new musician looked dapper in a black shirt, a white checkered jacket, and a beaded necklace.

Reese, who recently split from her husband of 12 years, Jim Toth looked gorgeous in a red plaid jacket with jeans. Her mini-me wore a green crop top with black leather pants and a belt.

The Big Little Lies actress who also shares a 10-year-old son Tennessee with Toth showed her support to her eldest son on social media.

The proud mother shared a screenshot of Spotify’s New Pop Picks which featured her son’s son Virus on her IG Story.

Witherspoon and Phillippe share a healthy relationship

The celebration was probably the actress’s first outing she filed for divorce from her estranged husband, 52, on April 1. The two were married for 12 years.

On March 24, the actress announced their divorce, writing,

“We have some personal news to share. It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce,”
“We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together,”

She also went on to call their minor son their biggest priority in the statement. The Oscar Winner has now deleted the post.

The Walk The Line star revealed concluded,

“These matters are never easy and are extremely personal,”
“We truly appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy at this time.”

Reese and Ryan both starred in the iconic 90s hit Cruel Intentions. They tied the knot in 1999 and divorced in 2008. They continue to co-parent their two kids, who are all grown up now.

Despite their past, the exes remain friendly and have reunited throughout the years. They also came together at Deacon’s June 2022 high school graduation.

Ryan even praised his ex-wife for creating a healthy family dynamic.

He told ET in 2016,

“You have to get to that point as a divorced parent … where you’re not putting yourself first,”
“You want the kids’ experience to be its own.”
