It seems Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth‘s 12-year-long marriage is finally coming to an end.

The Legally Blonde actress, 47, has officially filed for divorce from her husband citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their separation.

Reese and Jim signed a prenuptial agreement in March 2011 which is valid and will provide “adequate and sufficient provisions” for their assets and debts.

The soon-to-be former spouses who are parents to a 10-year-old son named Tennessee will have to register for a parenting class.

The pair will have 60 days for a certificate submission to the court.

The Hollywood beauty will submit their prenup to a judge along with a permanent parenting plan.

The Big Little Lies actress and Toth shocked fans when they released a joint statement on March 24 saying that they were ending their marriage.

The news came just days before their 12th wedding anniversary.

Their statement read,

“We have some personal news to share…,”
“It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce.”

The couple noted that they “have enjoyed so many wonderful years together” and “are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together.”

They concluded,

“Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter,”
“These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy at this time.”

Reese and Jim’s marriage had no romance left

Last week sources revealed that the couple’s marriage ended because they only shared a platonic relationship and no romance toward the end.

An insider claimed at the time,

“There’s no big scandal or drama, just two people who essentially became co-parents and don’t really have any romantic feelings for each other anymore,”

After the shocking announcement, Witherspoon who is also mother to daughter Ava, 23, and son Deacon, 19, stepped out in Nashville without her wedding ring on.

The Your Place or Mine star and Jim said I DO in her California home in March 2011. They dated for nearly a year before tying the knot.

In March 2021, Reese shared a heartfelt tribute to her “sweet hubby’‘ on the occasion of their 10th wedding anniversary.

She shared a picture from their wedding, writing,
