Who is Rich Brian?

Rich Brian is well known by people for being an Indonesian rapper, singer, songwriter, and also for being a record producer. He was known by the name of Rich Chigga or just Brian.

His first single debut Dat $tick was released in March 2016 and went viral on Sound Cloud. He is also known for getting certified gold for his single by RIAA.

Brian was born in the month of September 9, 1999, in Jakarta, Indonesia. He is currently 23 years old and holds the nationality of Indonesian. However, he belongs to the ethnicity of Chinese-Indonesian descent and also believes in Christianity.

He was the youngest of his 4 siblings and was raised in West Jakarta in a middle to low-class neighborhood. He was born to the Megawati Purnomo his mother and his father named Heru. His father was a lawyer though he never had a formal education. In the year of 2015, he adopted the name Rich Chigga and began to upload music videos of his rap songs on the internet. His first YouTube track was Living the Dream.

He was one of the few Indonesian singers who could write and rap in flawless English. Even she was not formally taught English as he learned English just by watching YouTube videos and listening to American music.

His life took a turn when his single Dat $tick on YouTube went viral in 2016. His single was so successful that it crossed the national borders and reaches the US.

By mid-2017, he had become renowned and a central figure in the United States. Many record labels approached him, and he went on a month-long tour throughout the United States in April 2017 that rocketed him to new heights of success.

In May, he released another track, Gospel, which was featured by American rappers XXXTentacion and Keith Ape. In the same year, he released Glow Like Dat again and planned a two-month American tour.

Rich Brian changed his name to Rich Brian in 2018. He even made a step to make his fans take him seriously as he was drifting towards serious themes while recording his debut album.

The Album Amen was a success just after its release on February 2. This album aced the iTunes Hip Hop Chart and became the first Asian artist to ace it.

He also released his song Yellow in June 2019 and named the second album The Sailor. The in same year his second single was released from the album Kids on 17 July 2019.

Brain released an EP titled 1999 in August 2020. His seven-track EP was preceded by 3 singles with accompanying music videos Don’t Care, Love in my Pocket, and DOA.
