Scarlett Johansson makes a rare comment about Ryan Reynolds

Scarlett Johansson opened up about how she really feels about her former husband Ryan Reynolds in an interview, more than 13 years after their divorce.

The Avengers actress appeared on the Goop podcast on Tuesday where the show’s host Gwyneth Paltrow asked her how many times she had tied the knot. Scarlett replied, “Three times.”

Gwyneth, 50, responded,

“Oh, that’s right because I forgot you were married to Ryan Reynolds. Goals.”

The Marriage Story actress and the Deadpool actor were married for just two years from 2008 to 2010. The actress noted that they “weren’t married for very long.”

When Paltrow said “We love a good Ryan Reynolds in our house,” Johansson said, “He’s a good guy.”

The Don Jon actress, 38, and the Free Guy actor, 46, announced they were separating in December 2010, after two years of marriage.

The exes finalized their divorce the following July.

It seems that both Scarlett and Ryan do not like talking about their short-lived romance. The actress, however, spoke about it in a 2019 Vanity Fair profile.

She said at the time,

“I mean, the first time I got married I was 23 years old,”
“I didn’t really have an understanding of marriage. Maybe I kind of romanticized it, I think, in a way,”

After their divorce, Johansson married journalist Romain Dauriac, now 41, in 2014 and welcomed a daughter named Rose.

They split in 2017 but continued to co-parent their child who is now 8 years old.

Talking about co-parenting their daughter after their split, the actress once said,

“We do as good as we can. I’d never experienced anything like it before, so there was no rule book. But if you have respect for the other person, then that’s important,”
“You each need to respect the other as a coparent, and I think we try to act from that space.”

Scarlett’s relationships after Reynolds split

After that, Johansson started dating SNL comedian Colin Jost in 2017. Two years later, the couple announced their engagement.

Also, she told Paltrow about how her past relationships prepared her for finding her current husband. She explained,

“I didn’t know what I wanted or needed from somebody else,”
“I never realized, ‘Oh, it’s really important for me, I need to be with a compassionate person. That’s a fundamental characteristic that has to be there.’ … I think identifying those things was a game-changer for me.”

They said I DO in a private ceremony at the Lucy actress’s home in New York in 2020. In 2021, they were blessed with a baby boy named Cosmo.

Ryan, on the other hand, started dating Gossip Girl alum Blake Lively in 2011.

The next year, they married on a South Carolina plantation. They received a lot of backlash for that and later issued an apology.

Together the Green Lanterns co-stars share four daughters: James, 8, Inez, 6, Betty, 3, and a 2-month-old infant whose name is yet to be revealed.
