Stefano Gabbana and his comment
Stefano Gabbana of Dolce and Gabbana fame who is now 55 took to social media to comment on Selena Gomez and her body. This was after the Instagram account called @ThecatwalkItalua posted a collage work of Selena Gomez in red.
Stefano quickly made a comment in the Italian language which read:
“É proprio brutta!!!,”
It means:
“She’s so ugly!!!”
Such a statement does not suit a person of his stature.
The backlash from Selena’s fans and other celebrities
On reading such a body-shaming comment about a renowned singer, many took to social media to express their displeasure at it.
Actor Tommy Dorfman wrote on his social media:
“@stefanobabbana you’re tired and over. your homophobic, misogynistic, body-shaming existence will not thrive in 2018,”
He continued:
“it is no longer tolerable or chic. please take many seats.”
Miley Cyrus too came to her defense. She said:
“Well what that d—k head said (if it’s true) is f—king false and total bull s—t. She fine as f—k.”
Selena’s strong fanbase was equally irritated at such an unsolicited comment. One of them wrote:
“Shame on you for online bullying. Doesn’t matter if 1 million people see it or 1 person, it’s bullying. It’s wrong,”
Another praised Selena and her beauty saying:
“We love this beautiful queen.”
Stefano’s previous controversies
Stefano Gabbana is not new to such a controversial statement passing. On the same Catwalk Italia page, Stefano had criticized Kate Moss’ Saint Laurentiis Ltd and had written No against it.
Stefano Gabbana and his business partner Domenico Dolce are openly gay. In 2015 made controversial statements about the LGBTQ community. Dolce had told Panorama Magazine in March 2015 that he is against gay adoption.
He said:
“We oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one … No chemical offsprings and rented uterus; Life has a natural flow, there are thins that should not be changed.”
