Tom Atkins was born on the 13th of November 1935 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, U.S. Atkins to George C. Atkins and Dorothy E. Williams. He is of English ethnicity.

His father, George was a worker of J&L Steel Mill in Pennsylvania. Since childhood, Tom had an inclination towards horror and sci-fi. However, his father always had an expectation that he would follow his footsteps.

Talking about his educational background, he completed his High School education from his hometown. After that, he went for the US Navy being impressed by the lifestyle of the Navy officer. Later, he joined Duquesne University.

During University days, Tom Atkins used to be a member of the Gamma Phi Fraternity. At the time, he developed an interest in acting. Also, he joined up for the theatre group of college too.

Tom Atkins started his career as a theater artist. As an artist, he has performed in the stage of both on-and-off Broadway. After a successful career, he expanded his career towards the TV moving to LA.

Some of his initial TV series include The Doctors and Look Up and Live in some minor roles. Later, in 1968, he landed his debut role through in the movie, The Detective. In the movie, he is portraying the character of a policeman, Harmon.

After the movie, Tom Atkins mostly appeared in the TV series. That includes Get Christie Love!, Rhoda, Harry O, The Rookies, The Rockford Files, and Serpico. In 1980, he appeared in the movie; The Fog and The Ninth Configuration directed by John Carpenter.

In 1982, Tom Atkins appeared in the led character as Dr. Daniel Challis in Halloween III: Season of the Witch. The movie became of the best of his acting character. Following that, he featured the TV series like The Mississipi, Murder Me, Murder You, T.J, Hooker, Blind Justice, and Stingray. 

In 1986, Tom Atkins portrayed the character of Ray in the movie, Night of the Creeps. The movie became a milestone in his career. After that, he became part of the movies like My Bloody Valentine, Drive Angry, Judy’s Dead, and many more.

Apart from the movies, Tom Atkins frequently appears in the shows of Pittsburgh theatre, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, and Broadway. Some of the popular plays of his career include The Chief, A Musical Christmas Carol, and The Changing Room.
