Abby Wambach played for Florida Gators women’s soccer team from 1998 to 2001 while she was a student at the University of Florida. Her career records were 96 goals, 24 game-winning goals, 50 assists, 242 points, and 10 hat tricks, setting a new record in her university.

Later, she was selected by the Washington Freedom during the first round of the 2002 WUSA Draft for the second season of the Women’s United Soccer Association (WUSA).

Abby Wambach played for the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) in the summer of 2005 where she appeared in five games, serving three assists, and scoring five goals.

After the new professional league, Wambach was assigned with  Washington Freedom after Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) was formed in 2008.

Similarly, she was allocated to the National Women’s Soccer League club,  and then to Western New York Flash and to  U.S. women’s national soccer team (USWNT) from 2003 to 2015.

In addition, Abby Wambach played in FIFA Women’s World Cup (2003, 2007, 2011, 2015), and Summer Olympics (2004, 2008, 2012).

Moreover, she is also an author and has written autobiographies Forward: My Story Young Readers’ Edition (2016), Forward: A Memoir (2016), and the inspirational book Wolfpack.
