Fans tell Austin Butler to get rid of the Elvis accent

Austin Butler arrived at the 2023 Oscar Awards and brought along his standard Elvis Presley accent with him. Fans, however, were not happy with that and that drew a chorus of howls online.

One social media user wrote,

“when is Austin Butler losing the accent? Or is it part of his DNA now?”

Another Oscar viewer wrote,

“Austin Butler still has a hint of that accent and I’m gonna shove him into a locker”.

There were fans who were fed up with his fake accent and showed direct dislike for the voice.

Butler wants to stop talking in his Elvis accent

This is not the first time, the former Disney channel alum was trolled for his accent. Last January social media users shaded him when he accepted an award at the Golden Globe Awards and spoke with a pronounced Southern drawl despite being a  Southern California native.

The 31-year-old actor spoke in Presley’s signature twang, saying,

“Oh man, all my words are leaving me. I just am so grateful right now. I’m in this room full of my heroes. Brad [Pitt], I love you. Quentin [Tarantino], I printed out the ‘Pulp Fiction’ script when I was 12. I cannot believe I’m here right now,”

“So that fake Elvis accent is just Austin Butler’s voice now, huh #GoldenGlobes,”

Another viewer wrote via Twitter,

“Austin Butler taking ‘method acting’ WAY further than it needs to with this voice in his acceptance speech. #GoldenGlobes,”

Maybe after facing criticism, the actor took them to heart and revealed that he now wants to stop talking like the King of Rock and  Roll now that the Elvis press tour is almost done.

While appearing on Britain’s The Graham Norton Show, Butler said,

“I am getting rid of the accent, but I have probably damaged my vocal cords with all that singing,”
