Cheryl Burke, 37, and Matthew Lawrence, 42 finally called it quits after the ups and downs of a relationship. The two decided to part ways after nearly three years of marriage.

Earlier this week, the news sparked regarding the couple’s separation that Burke filed for divorce from Matthew Lawrence. On Feb. 24 the Dancing With the Stars pro confirmed reports that she and her then-husband are going to separate.

She released a statement on Thursday via her respective Instagram handles. She wrote,

“I know I have always said that I’m open book with you guys, I do strive to be, and in writing this I’ve realized there isn’t really an easy way to announce that my marriage is ending,”

Burke also asked for understanding and privacy from her fans at the moment as she deals with this personal issue. At the end of her statement, she thanked her fans for all the kind words & support that they were showering for her.

She added,

“Thank you all for all the kind words & support you’ve given me—love you all. Xx Cheryl.”

Shortly after her post, she received support from other celebrities as well as the Dancing With the Stars family including Gleb Savchenko, Pete Murgatroyd, and Carrie Ann Inaba.

The Judge of DWTS wrote,

“Choosing what you need to do for you needs no explanation to anyone. You know you. I’m proud of you for being brave…. I love you. And support you and you are not alone my friend. hugs!!”

Roller Coaster Ride of Relationship

The two first met in 2006 when the actor’s brother Joey Lawrence was a contestant on the hit ABC dance competition show. Shortly after, they started dating back in 2007 but broke up after a year and again reconciled in 2017. Burke posted the first photo with DWTS pro after 10 years apart in July 2017 when they were on vacation.

“Adventure of a lifetime,”

In October Burke told to US Weekly,

“We really want to do it right. We want to do the steps of being engaged, moving in together, getting married and having kids. I’m not getting any younger. We want kids and all of that, so we’ll see what happens.”

The following year, the beautiful pair ultimately got engaged after a year of whirlwind romance in May 2018 while on Vacation in Laguna Beach, California. Similarly, they walked down the aisle on May 23, 2019, at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar in San Diego, California. In December, the newlyweds celebrated their first Christmas after marriage with matching pajamas gifted to them by Burke’s matron of honor, Leah Remini.

However, their marriage didn’t go longer. The reason behind their divorce cited irreconcilable differences. According to court documents, Cheryl and Matthew got separated on January 7, 2022, and asked to terminate the court’s ability to award spousal support, citing a prenuptial agreement. On the other hand, Matthew has not yet commented on the divorce.

To date, the couple doesn’t have any children.
