Russell Brand faces rape accusations by multiple women

Russell Brand is always in trouble.

The British comedian faced rape allegations just months after he filed for divorce from pop star Katy Perry after their very short-lived marriage.

Four women accused the actor of raping and sexually abusing them between 2006 and 2013, as per a joint investigation published on Saturday by the Times of London and Channel 4 Dispatches.

One of the accusers named Nadia claimed that the Arthur actor raped her in his Los Angeles home in July 2012 just five months after finalizing his divorce with the pop star.

Medical reports cited by the newspaper claimed that the victim received treatment at a rape crisis center the same day.

Another female made claims that Russell groomed and sexually abused her when she was only 16 years old.

The report also claimed that the comedian who was 31 at the time called her a child and assaulted her during their “emotionally abusive and controlling” three-month relationship.

Amid all of the accusations, the comedian tried to clear his name and posted a video on Instagram where he said,

“I have received two extremely disturbing letters, or a letter and an email, one from a mainstream media TV company, one from a newspaper, listing a litany of egregious and aggressive attacks,”
“This is happening.”
“Amidst this litany of astonishing, rather baroque attacks, are some very serious allegations that I absolutely refute.”

Russell Brand dumped Katy Perry via a text

Russell and Katy tied the knot in October 2010 during a lavish seven-day ceremony at a tiger sanctuary in India. Just 14 months later, he filed for divorce from the Roar singer in December 2011.

Brand then dumped the American Idol judge via text just moments before she was all set to perform on stage.

In 2013, Perry told Vogue, “Let’s just say I haven’t heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me on December 31, 2011,”

The Grammy winner also revealed that Russell did not appreciate her being the boss and called his behavior “really hurtful, and… very controlling.”

Perry was only 25 when she met the then-35-year-old in 2009. She did a cameo for his movie Get Him to the Greek. They met again at the 2009 MTV VMAs and started dating after that.

Brand revealed there were irreconcilable differences in his marriage with Katy, in his divorce papers in Los Angeles Superior Court. He quickly moved on to another relationship with British socialite Jemima Khan.

Russell denied all the accusations in an online video released on Saturday before the report came out.

He said,

“Now during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely, always consensual.”
