Only a few lucky ones get Ed Sheeran to perform at their wedding.

So, when Patriots owner Robert Kraft, 81, asked his close pal to perform at his wedding to his new bride Dr. Dana Blumberg, 47, there was no chance the big-hearted superstar would say no.

The four-time Grammy Award winner treated the couple to live vocals on their wedding day.

While giving an interview on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up, the Galway Girl singer explained why he decided to perform at the star-studded celebration in lower Manhattan’s Hall des Lumières later this month.

Sheeran gladly told the hosts:

“Well, it was mad ’cause it was ‘Perfect,’ and ‘Perfect’ is the one that everyone always wants for their first dance, but I’ve never done it before,”

The Shape of You singer added:

“So I’m sort of looking at them dancing and I’m like, ‘Oh, this is the first time I’ve actually done this for a first dance.’ You would just assume that I’ve done it lots of times,”

Tom Brady was present at the wedding without Gisele

Sheeran’s other special performance included Candle in the Wind duet with Elton John at the wedding. Other artists like Meek Mill, and Grandmaster Flash DJ performed at the wedding before it all turned into an exciting dance party.

One reason why Sheeran chose to perform at the wedding was that he shares a lovely relationship with Kraft. Their first meeting perhaps dates back to his first arena gig in 2013.

Referring to the Kraft-owned Gillette Stadium, Sheeran said:

“I mean, he was my first stadium that I played in the US ever,”

“I’ve always had a lovely relationship with him. He’s super sweet.”

Ed also mentioned that his performing at weddings is a rare thing and said how special Kraft’s wedding was for him. He noted:

“I’m always either playing a gig on a Saturday or I’m with my family on a Saturday, but [Kraft’s wedding] was on a Friday night and here we are.”

Many A-listers including former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, singer Jon Bon Jovi, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, and former quarterback Drew Bledsoe attended the wedding bash.

While Brady looked excited at the wedding, his estranged wife Gisele Bundchen skipped the big day.
