Gigi Hadid revealed she is in therapy

Gigi Hadid also struggles with the negative side of fame and needs therapy to deal with it.

The model, 27, opened up about the downsides of being a supermodel in the era of social media.

Earlier this year, Victoria’s Secret angel explained in an interview with Elle what her fans wouldn’t know about her from her social media posts.

Getting all emotional, Gigi replied,

“I’m getting emotional [thinking about it],”

“I think that I’m someone who you have to be in front of to experience. It’s not hard. This isn’t a complaint. It’s more that in my job, you see a lot of snapshots.”

The Guest in Residence founder then wiped away tears and excused the interviewer for making her eyes tear up.

She continued,

“No, it’s fine. Apparently, I needed to say it. There are a lot of snapshots and really quick moments where, again, there’s not a lot of context given.”

The supermodel also noted that she and her younger sister Bella Hadid who is also a supermodel, are in therapy to help them deal with the challenges that come from being part of the modeling industry.

Hadid opened up about her mental health struggles

Gigi Hadid has not been shy about sharing her mental health struggles. In 2016, she announced she suffers from anxiety. Last year, she told Vogue that she has “imposter syndrome” quite a bit.

During the Elle interview, the model also noted that her famous friends gave her headlines about ignoring such negative headlines.

Gigi explained,

“Serena Williams once told me, ‘Nothing stays in the press longer than three weeks,’”

“You can feel like your life is ending … [but] if it’s a mistake, then it will pass. I think it’s about not taking yourself that seriously and being like, ‘When I am on my deathbed, I’m not going to remember that one awkward interview from when I was 19.’”

In September 2020, Hadid and her then-boyfriend Zayn welcomed their first child, daughter Khai. The on-off couple then called it quits for the last time in 2021 after six years of dating.

After their split, Gigi Hadid was linked to actor Leonardo DiCaprio in September during the last season’s NYFW. At the time, they partied at Casa Cipriani.

Reports suggested that by the end of December, their romance had fizzled out.
