James McVey is the lead guitarist and backup vocalist for the pop-rock group The Vamps. With The Vamps, he released hit singles such as ‘Wild Heart’, ‘Last Night, and their debut single, ‘Can We Dance?

James was born in Chester, the United Kingdom on April 30, 1994, as James Daniel Mcvey. He moved with his family to Bournemouth, Dorset when he was four years old.

Throughout his childhood years, he was raised along with a sister named Sophie. Music was a big influence in his early life. He is of British nationality. Furthermore, he belongs to a mixed ethnic background of English and Scottish.

The Vamps uploaded their first original song, ‘Wildhearts’ in July 2013. Following the song’s success, they came up with their debut single ‘Can We Dance’ which received 1 million views on YouTube in its first week itself.

Furthermore, the Vamps eventually launched their record label ‘Steady Records. Additionally, in October 2016, The Vamps released their autobiography, called ‘The Vamps: Our Story 100% Official’.

All in all, James’ band has released three albums to date, ‘Meet the Vamps’, ‘Wake Up’ and ‘Night & Day.

The Vamps has won numerous awards. The band won 4 Music Video Honours and The Hot Hits Awards in 2013. Furthermore, they won BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards and Melty Future Awards in 2014.

Additionally, they garnered the  Radio Disney Music Awards Teen Choice Awards, and World Music Awards nominations in 2014.
