Dye was born on February 4, 1983, in Seattle and raised in Kent, Washington. As of 2020, he is 36-37 years old.

Dye had an elder sister, Janice, who died in a car accident in Albany, Oregon on December 3, 2015.

Due to undiagnosed dyslexia, Dye did not learn to read until he was twenty.
