Joe Jonas Revealed He Auditioned for Spider-Man and How He Lost the Role to Andrew Garfield!

Joe Jonas lost the role of Peter Parker to Andrew Garfield

Joe Jonas recently revealed that he was supposed to be Peter Parker in the 2012 movie The Amazing Spiderman. But it was Andrew Garfield who got to do the part instead.

Jonas who recently appeared on the Just for Variety podcast said:

“I remember years ago I was up for Spider-Man, and I was so, so excited, and it was the year Andrew Garfield got it,”

The 33-year-old singer added:

“Obviously, he was the right one,”

The Jonas Brothers singer also noted that the movie’s director Marc Webb was a music video director at the time which led the singer to believe that he had a chance.

“But you know what? I love the process of auditioning and putting yourself out there and having to prove yourself,”

The Cake By the Ocean singer added that he made it through to the callback portion of the audition process.

When asked if  that included wearing a Spidey suit, Jonas replied:

“No, but I’m sure I had one that I would try on occasionally back in the day.”

Garfield also went on to do the movie’s second part, 2014’s The Amazing Spiderman-Man 2. Garfield dated Emma Stone,  who played the character of Gwen Stacy in both movies, for several years.

The actor also reprised his role in last year’s hit Spider-Man: No Way Home alongside Tom Holland and the first Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire.

Sophie coached Jonas on his acting skills

Jonas who did not receive the superhero role tried his luck in music but when the pandemic started “touring wasn’t really an option,” so he had enough time to make his acting skills better.

Jonas who is married to Game of Thrones and X-Men star Sophie Turner thanked her for coaching him through it all.

Calling his wife his toughest critic, Jonas said:

“When you have a wife like Sophie Turner, who is a phenomenal actress, [being] the one filming you and directing you through it, you got to bring your A-game,”

The Sucker singer added:

“Yes, I’m going to be a little nervous, [but she’s] super helpful,

Jonas also said that he was thankful for her honest opinion.

Joe stars in the war-action movie Devotion which is currently running in theatres.

Jonas and Turner married in 2019 at a wedding chapel in Vegas, just hours after the Billboard Music Awards.

The two started dating in 2016 after being introduced by mutual friends. In  2017, Joe proposed to the  British actress with a $150,000 diamond ring.

The couple shares two beautiful daughters together.
