Kate was photographed on the day of her 38th birthday on 9 January 2020 in the morning hours driving towards Kensington Palace in London. But she was not her usual self.

She was deep in thoughts and failed to give a smile to the waiting paparazzi. It was obvious that the Megxit announcement has deeply affected her. In one of the images, she appears either to be shielding her face or adjusting the visor of her car.

The Duchess of Cambridge will be with her family husband Prince William and three children namely George, Charlotte, and Louis. Besides, the other royal family members would also grace the occasion with their presence.

But, it is understood that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s sudden decision to leave the palace would occupy the major chunk of the discussion on this day.

Prince William supposedly is furious with his younger brother’s decision. It is the first time in the history of the royal family that a senior member has asked for a step down from his or her royal duties.

The Twitter of the royal family uploaded a series of pics of Kate and captioned them:

Wishing The Duchess of Cambridge a very Happy Birthday!”

Another snap of Kate in jeans, a green jumper, with a shirt underneath, was on Kensington Royal’s Instagram. It carried the caption:

Thank you everyone for all your lovely messages on The Duchess of Cambridge’s birthday!”

Kate also had a private weekend party at Anmer Hall on the Queen’s Sandringham Estate where her parents and a small group of family and close friends were guests. She was at the Church with the Queen on Sunday despite it being her birthday weekend.

Reactions of royal fans

The fans of the royal family also are enraged with the one-sided decision. They are not happy with the timing of the decision as well. It happened just before Kate’s birthday. One royal fan commented:

“They chose to make the announcement hit the press on Kate’s birthday! Lovely present from them to her.”

A second fan remarked:

Anyhow, let’s hope Kate’s birthday isn’t at all over shadowed today,”

And followed it up with a crying laughing emoji. Russell Myers, who is the Mirror’s Royal Editor said:

The world is talking about only one thing, Harry and Meghan’s decision to go on their own and leave their roles in the royal family.

“Kate will be celebrating her birthday privately at home with the family and she certainly would prefer it that way given the whole furore over the Sussexes’ decision to press the nuclear button on their royal careers.”

Kate Middleton’s relations with Meghan Markle

Prince William’s wife, Kate does not have a very cordial relationship with her sister-in-law Meghan. They had a rift soon after Prince Harry married the American actress.

Later there was a cold war between the two brothers as well and things grew more sour. Harry and Meghan split from the Kensington Palace and later also isolated themselves from the Royal Foundation they shared with Kate and William.

In one of the TV documentaries, the couple had spoken about Harry’s relations with William. They said that there were ‘good’ days and ‘bad’ days between the two brothers.
