Yes, despite orders to social distance, a group of young adults in Kentucky decided to defy the orders.
They held a coronavirus party and now one of them is down with the deadly virus.

Despite the orders nationwide of keeping a social distance and not hosting parties to counteract the coronavirus outbreak, a group of young adults in Kentucky disobeyed the orders.

They held a party and Gov. Andy Beshear said that one of the attendees has tested positive for coronavirus.

Andy said:

“The partygoers intentionally got together thinking they were invincible and purposely defying state guidance to practice social distancing”

Expressing his anger at the event, Andy added:

“This is one that makes me mad. We have to be much better than that.”

Facts about the coronavirus

The virus is more fatal for people above 60 and those with some underlying problems. But even the young have been told to observe social distancing since they may have the virus without symptoms but even with no symptoms and risk, these young people can transmit the infections to the older age group or those with co-morbid conditions. And observations and preliminary surveys have supported this fact since the rapid spread of the virus has taken place by these asymptomatic carriers.

Additionally, in the USA, unlike in China, there are more cases in the younger generation. CDC has reported that early data has revealed that more than 20 % of the patients with coronavirus are in the age group of 20-44 years.

US Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams disclosed on NBC show Today:

“So far the demography definitely seems to be very different in the United States versus in other countries that saw this hit earlier,”

And in the New York City itself, 53 % of the patients infected with coronavirus are in the age group of 18 to 49. Besides, in the USA, mortality in young has also been documented. On Tuesday 24 March 2020, California had the first death of a minor less than 18 years old due to this infectious disease.

And another 12-year-old is fighting for her life and doctors have put her on a ventilator at a hospital in Georgia in Atlanta. Dr. Deborah Birx, White House’s coronavirus reponse coordinator said:

“There also have been concerning reports from France and Italy about young people becoming seriously ill, “

Coronavirus cases in the USA

There has been a surge in cases and deaths due to coronavirus in the USA. There has been nearly 278k cases of this infection in the USA to date. 12.3k people have recovered. But the death toll has reached 7.2k. And in just one day, the rise has been high at 30k.
