Meghan Markle missed the coronation but it did not stop her from having fun on her own terms. The former Suits actress was pictured hiking in her hometown over the weekend. It was after her husband Prince Harry went to London to show his support to his father King Charles III on his coronation day.
However, Meghan’s two children, Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 1, did not join their mother for the outing.
Markle’s longtime friends Markus Anderson and Heather Dorak, however, were present with her for the outdoor adventure.
The former actress dressed casually in a navy blue loose-fitted top, brown hiking shoes, and activewear bottoms, and a green jacket tied around her waist.
She wore large-frame sunglasses, a scarf, and a Panama hat to stay incognito.
Meghan’s outing comes after internet users questioned her decision to not attend King Charles’ coronation amid her estranged relationship with her husband’s family.
The King’s bid day, unfortunately, happened to be on the same day as his grandson Archie’s birthday, which Meghan refused to skip.
A source said at the time,
“There was no way that Meghan was going to miss her son’s birthday.’’
Moreover, royal biographer Omid Scobie claimed that Markle chose not to go to the UK to protect her peace.
Scobie said in an interview,
“She is aware just how much of the spotlight goes on her when she sets even a foot near the story,”
“It’s portrayed as intentional. Should she come over and just stand next to her husband, the commentary and the narrative of the day would have been very different.”

Harry rushed to the US to attend his son’s birthday
Harry, on the other hand, flew to London and attended the ceremony at Westminster Abbey. However, he flew back to California right after the coronation ended to make it home in time to celebrate his son’s 4th birthday.
At the abbey, the prince sat on a third row alongside Princess Eugenie’s husband Jack Brooksbank, and the late Queen’s cousin Princess Alexandra.
The front seat was reserved only for working royals like Prince William and Princess Catherine.
The royal was spotted at the Windsor Suite at Heathrow Airport at around 3:00 p.m. local time.
Harry was in his home country for just 24 hours after arriving via a commercial flight on Friday. Harry spent the night at Frogmore Cottage which the late Queen gave him and Meghan as their wedding present.
The Palace announced in a statement in April that Harry would attend the coronation solo without Meghan Markle.
The statement read,
“The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation service at Westminster Abbey on May 6th,”
“The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”
