Montell Jordan is an American R&B singer, songwriter as well as a record producer. He is mostly known for his platinum-certified released hit single ‘This Is How We Do It’ in 1995.

Montell attended Pepperdine University and graduated in 1991. He was born to a middle-class family of Delois Allen and Elijah Jordan. With four children, their financial survival was hard.

His father worked as an accountant and his mother worked as a business administrator. Jordan expands his musical interest and started learning to play piano at the age of ten and singing at 11.

Middle-class-born Montell Jordan released his hit single ‘This Is How We Do It in 1995. With just one album he was known to the musical industries.

Then after he met with the president of PMP Records Paul Stewart and signed a record deal. Later he flew to New York with Stewart and sang for Russell Simmons and he signed a contract with him.

Before retiring, Jordan released 6 albums overall but his self-entitled album was not released in the US.

Some of his albums that Montell Jordan released in the US are ‘This Is How We Do It in 1995, ‘More…’ in 1996, ‘Let’s Ride’ in 1998, and ‘Get It On…Tonight’ in 1999, and ‘Life after Def’ in 2003.

His success in music has paid him well financially. In his song ‘Let’s Ride’, he featured rapper Master P.

Montell Jordan retired from the music world in late 2010 and got involved as a worship leader at ‘Victory World Church’ based in Norcross, Georgia.

In 2011, a born-again Christian wrote a Christian album featuring the song ‘Shake Heaven’ with Beckah Shae.

Although his salary has not been disclosed, his net worth is said to be $500 thousand as of 2022.
