South Korea K-Pop Star Yang Hyun-suk Resigns After The Scandal Hits YG Entertainment!!
- South Korean K-pop mogul Yang Hyun-Suk has resigned as the head of South Korea’s major record agency YG Entertainment.
- He left the post after the drug, gambling, and sex scandals that sky-rocketed in the company.
Resignation of Yang Hyun-Suk amid the scandals
The CEO of the company who is also the brother of the music mogul announced his resignation. The founder and chief producer of YG, Yang said that he would step down from all positions and responsibilities in the agency.
He including top artists such as Big Bang, Blackpink, and others, appeared for questioning at a Seoul police station.
Before entering the station he stated:
“I will sincerely explain my position to the police.”
However, police have declined whatever they said in their statement. Meanwhile, Yang denied accusations of drug and sex scandals involving some of his artists.
He is also a member of the popular boy band Seo Tae Ji and Boys in the 1990s. Moreover, he also developed YG into a K-pop powerhouse. He created idol groups such as BIGBANG and BLACKPINK who are popular worldwide.
In addition to his career achievement, he is also behind the 2012 mega-hit Psy’s Gangnam Style. This took K-pop to another level.
Yang made the statement:
“I have dedicated the last 23 years of my life to YG Entertainment,”
Furthermore, stating his resignation from the company, he mentioned that he can no more take the humiliation.
South Korean broadcaster KBS reported that Yang had tried to silence a person who had provided illegal drugs to one of his artists. After the report, Yang popped up with this resignation and explanation.
Yang is the biggest shareholder of YG, which he established in 1996. His brother Yang Min-suk, the firm’s chief executive. Min-suk has also resigned from the company.
Despite YG Entertainment being among the top K-Pop record labels, the shares have more than halved after all the scandals.

Yang Hyun-suk’s YG Entertainment and Its Scandals
YG Entertainment is one of South Korea’s top three entertainment agencies alongside SM and JYP. The company is going through a complicated situation with the scandals of its singer.
Yang is not only the one who has surrounded himself with the controversy from the company.
A BIGBANG member of K-pop star Seungri, whose real name is Lee Seung-Hyun retired from YG after the accusation of arranging sex services for potential investors in his business.
Another fellow YG artist Kim Han-bin, a member of the boy band iKon also went out of the group during the accusation that he had bought illegal drugs three years ago. As per the news, Yang was trying to cover up from the accusation.
The former founder of YG, Yang’s name is in many other controversies. He is accused to have colluded and enabling tax evasion, and bribery. His name also came on the scandal of prostitution at some of the glitziest clubs in Seoul’s swanky Gangnam district.
