Who is Thomas Markle Sr.?

Meghan Markle might have been a former TV actress but her father Thomas Markle Sr. also has Hollywood connections.

He was a Hollywood lighting director who showed his incredible work on shows like Married… with Children and General Hospital, and he even won an Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Lighting Direction for a Drama Series.

Meghan told Esquire in 2013 that she used to visit her dad on the set of Married…with Children. She added,

“There were a lot of times my dad would say, ‘Meg, why don’t you go and help with the craft services room over there? This is just a little off-color for your 11-year-old eyes.'”

Markle revealed she shared a close bond with her dad

Now that the world knows Meghan Markle shares an estranged relationship with her father, it was always not the case.

Despite not being at his daughter’s wedding to walk her down the aisle, Thomas always protected and took care of his daughter throughout her childhood.

In a now-deleted IG post on the occasion of Father’s Day in 2016, Meghan wrote on her social media,

“Happy Father’s Day, daddy. I’m still your buckaroo, and to this day your hugs are still the very best in the whole wide world.

Thomas has other two children from his previous marriage

Meghan has two half–siblings, Samantha Markle and Tom Markle JR., who are Thomas’ kids from his first marriage.

In her Netflix docuseries, Markle revealed that she used to spend weekdays with her mom and weekends with her dad after their split.

Samantha and Thomas made global headlines by slamming Meghan for treating their father in a horrible way.

While Meghan revealed that she has not seen her half-sister since her 20s, Samantha claimed that the two sisters were close until 2018.

Thomas helped Meghan Markle be proud of her identity

Meghan Markle encouraged his biracial daughter to have her own identity.

She once said that in her seventh grade, she was confused about whether to choose Caucasian or African American. She felt it would be to choose one parent over the other.

Markle added,

“My teacher told me to check the box for Caucasian,”
“When I went home that night, I told my dad what had happened. He said the words that have always stayed with me: ‘If that happens again, you draw your own box.'”

Markle moved to Mexico after retiring from Hollywood

Thomas now lives in a cliff-top house that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. His residence is around a 15-minute drive from the Mexican/US border.

Thomas Jr. revealed that his father grew very reclusive since Meghan’s engagement.
