Tom Ackerley’s firstly worked as a floor runner on the period drama ‘The Hour’ in 2011. That year, he was involved in his first film, ‘War Horse’, as a location runner. In the ensuing two years, he would also serve as a crowd runner and set production assistant before landing his first job as an assistant director in Sky Arts 1 TV series ‘Playhouse Presents.

Tom started his screen debut in the year 2013 with the biographical sports action drama movie Rush alongside Chris Hemsworth, Daniel Bruhl, Olivia Wilde, and Natalie Dormer as well. Additionally, the movie was able to collect $98 million in the box office with a budget of $54 million.

After a year, he also made his appearance in the 2014 English comedy film Pride, featuring Dominic West and George MacKay. Tom made his breakthrough in the 2015 movie Macbeth. His first film as an assistant director was the 2013 science fiction horror ‘The Last Days on Mars’. In the year 2017, he appeared in a commercial promoting Nissan electric vehicles.

Ackerley then worked as an assistant director and producer.
