Diana had driven her three children into the McKenzie-Willamette Hospital in a blood-spattered car.

When they arrived at the hospital, her son, Cheryl had already died and her daughter Christie was suffering from a stroke disabling. Also, Danny was paralyzed.

According to her, a robbery shot her and her children while she refused to let him have her car.

The incident took place on the 19th of May 1983 in Oregon. According to the testimony of Christie, the crime took place in the park where her mother shot her siblings with guns. Also, she shot herself in the arm.

The murder weapon was the .22 caliber handgun that Diane Down owned. Her Ex-husband and lover informed her that she owns the gun.

However, the gun has never been fought but policemen found unfired casings in her home with extractor marking for the gum that she used during the crime.

At the time, she was having an affair with the co-worker Robert Knickerbocker and she wanted to be with him. Despite loving Diane, he could not accept her children. Hence, she committed the crime so that she could be with him.

The story that she told police and hospital authority never matched with the foreign evidence as there was no blood spatter on the driver’s side. Also, there was no trace of gunpowder on the driver’s door.

Till 2009, she was not allowed to apply for any sort of parole until her crime but she has denied having any sort of parole till the day. Also, to date, she is saying that she is not the murderer. A man shot them during the robbery.
