Dr. Rainbow Edwards and Kenya Barris walked down the aisle on 3rd December 1999. Together they have six children.
Their children are Kaleigh born on 9th June 1999, Leyah born in 2001, Lola born in 2006, Beau born in 2008, Kass born in 2008, and Bronx born in 2017.
They were having a happily married life until 2019 when Kenya filed for divorce. He filed for divorce on 9th August 2019 in Los Angeles Superior Court. Earlier in 2014, Edwards had filed for divorce but the two reconciled and withdrew the request the following year.
Barris said,
“Somehow, some f*cked up way, it got announced on my birthday. I didn’t file on my birthday but it got announced on my birthday. I have my wife calling me. Also, I have my daughter who’s a sophomore at USC calling me. I have my daughter, who’s a senior in high school, calling me because her friends are talking about it”

“I started writing down some of my ideas. Sometimes I would write a quote or something specific the kids had said. I started writing down the things that were important to me which were my interactions with the kids.”
In the year 2009, she had taken out a sheet of paper in a daily planner and had written about the book which she wanted to write. Her sister found the paper while cleaning up and showed her.
Her book is about specific experiences, incidents, trips, and conversations that Kenya and she had had with the kids. The book is not about medicine or comedy but the collection of ways she interacted with her kids.
