Harry Styles: his relations with ‘One Direction’ band members, career updates, and wrist surgery due to probable tenosynovitis!
Harry Styles’s relations with One Direction and Zayn Malik
Harry Edward Styles, an English singer-songwriter was one of the members of the boy band One Direction. The band also comprised English singers Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Irish Niall Horan.
The group had disbanded in 2015 and each of the five band members went on to make their own solo careers. They did have some communication between them and spoke on phone sometimes.
Zayn Malik has been a bit more vocal about the band and its members and had intermittently taken shots at them. In a recent interview given to Us Weekly, Zayn Malik elaborated on the fact why he spoke less about Harry Styles.
He said:
“To be honest, I never really spoke to Harry even when I was in the band. So I didn’t really expect that much of a relationship with him when I left. And I haven’t [had one], to be honest.”
In 2015, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne exchanged some great emotional tweets during the band’s anniversary time.
Louis Tomlinson also had mentioned that any element of ill feelings between the band members has now settled down. As regards the idea of all five members rejoining to form the band again, all five are open to the idea.
Zayn said:
“Who knows? I’ve said it before: Never say never. If I wanted to come back in 10, 15 years time, then yeah, why not? I don’t know. If I didn’t want to [be in the band] then, I might not. It just depends on how I’m feeling at that time.”
Harry Styles is also occupied with his solo career.
Harry Styles’ solo ventures and tendon surgery
Styles is busy carving his own solo path in the world of music. He has signed with Columbia Records as a solo artist.
He has released his debut single ‘Sign of the Times’ and his debut album. It topped the music charts in many countries of the world and received rave reviews.
He featured on several TV shows and is due to start his ‘Harry Styles: Live on Tour’ on 19 September 2017. After touring the major cities of the USA, the tour would go to Toronto on 4 October 2017.
After some more live concerts in the US, the tour will go to Paris, Cologne (Germany), London, Manchester, Glasgow, Berlin, Stockholm, Milan, Amsterdam, Singapore, and Melbourne, and end in Auckland, NZ this year.
Harry Styles has been sporting a wrist bandage on his right hand intermittently for the last few months.
When his band member Niall Horan expressed his concern while in Australia about this, Harry Styles replied via his interview given to Australian station Nova.
He said:
“I had a little bit of surgery on my wrist. The cause was tight tendons. They just clipped it.”
He added:
“I said before I went in, I was like ‘I need to play guitar in 2 weeks, is that alright?’ and he was like, ‘no problem’.”
The problem could probably be tendon sheath inflammation or ‘tenosynovitis’.

What is tenosynovitis?
Tenosynovitis is inflammation and swelling of the tendon sheath. Tendons are rope-like structures that join the muscles to the bone. They move in a fluid-filled cavity or sheath which is the synovium.
Due to repetitive use and overuse of the muscles and tendons, this sheath may get swollen and lead to pain, local swelling, redness, and movement restriction. This is tenosynovitis. It is common in musicians, writers, and the like.
Sometimes, direct trauma or systemic disorders such as arthritis could lead to this disorder. Diagnosis is usually clinical though some tests may be needed to rule out any suspected causes.
Treatment is by rest, splinting of the joint, short course of anti-inflammatory drugs, ultrasound, and other physiotherapy modes. If the swelling is not controlled by medical means, surgery may be required as in the case of Harry Styles.
