Mike developed his career professionally in hockey in 2000. He had until now played for different teams including Edmonton Oilers, Philadelphia Flyers, Phoenix Coyotes, Färjestad BK, Ottawa Senators, New York Islanders, and Pittsburgh Penguins.

His National Hockey League days were not certain for only one team as he has played from different teams. He played 21 games for the Philadelphia Flyers before playing for the Phoenix Coyotes. From 2004 to 2005, he signed with Färjestad BK and played 10 games with them. He then played with the Ottawa Senators and New York Islanders.

On September 10, 2009, Mike Comrie got an offer and signed a one-year contract worth $1.125 million. So working with the team he began his NHL career. Afterward, he returned to the Edmonton Oilers after six years. On November 17, Comrie got through the NHL long-term injury reserve list with mononucleosis. This affects him in his games and he was out until late January.

But Mike Comrie had 5 goals and 8 points, in 16 games. He joined it and finished the season with 13 goals and 21 points, in 43 games. He there works as a free agent on July 1, 2010. On September 3, 2010, he got the next good offer worth $500,000 from the Pittsburgh Penguin to sign a one-year contract with them.

As he has his own medical issues and underwent hip surgery for the third time. Comrie then retired from hockey on February 13, 2012.
