Tom Jackson passed away at the age of 63 after battling with gland cancer
Tom Jackson is no longer alive among us! He took his last breath on Friday, March 3 after losing his battle with metastatic adenocarcinoma, a gland cancer that has spread to other areas of the body.
Jackson was just 63. His death was announced on the official Queer Eye Instagram page alongside photos of Tom with a heartbreaking statement that reads,
“It’s with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to a member of our family. Rest in peace, Tom Jackson,”
Tom’s death sparked an outpouring of shock and grief across the acting world. Many took to the comment section of the post to express their condolences and showed their support for the Jackson family in this difficult time.
Tan France wrote,
“Such incredibly sad news,”

Fellow “Queer Eye” star Jonathan Van Ness expressed his grief by writing,
“RIP Tom“, alongside a red heart emoji.
Similarly, Bobby Berk added,
“Having a Redneck Margarita in your honor”
Jackson’s family also expressed appreciation to the medical team for helping Tom with “treatment and comfort during his final days.” They wrote in the online obituary,
“We will never forget our beloved Tom. He brought joy, humor, persistence, and love to our family. He is special to us, and we look forward to seeing him again one day.”
Tom is survived by his daughter Katie (R.J.) Phelps, sisters Kozetta (Jeff) Stewart and Watson Phelps, and two grandsons Chandler and Watson.
On March 12th, the family held a memorial service at On the Boundary in Kennesaw, Georgia.
What was Tom Jackson famous for?
Tom Jackson was born to Sue Ann Ransdell Jackson and Thomas Jackson on December 20, 1959. He grew up and was raised in Ashland, Kentucky.
Tom got his career breakthrough after his appearance on Queer Eye in February 2015, titled “You Can’t Fix Ugly.”
The Fab Five—Jonathan Van Ness, Karamo Brown, Antoni Porowski, Tan France, and Bobby Berk—enhanced Jackson’s fashion sense, physical appearance, and way of life in the show.
Prior to starring in “Queer Eye”, Jackson had a job in Georgia driving dump trucks for Taylor Transport in Cartersville, Georgia. Similarly, before that, he worked for Federal Express for many years before retiring.
