Who is Alan Davies?
Alan Roger Davies is an English stand-up comedian, actor, and writer. He has played the main role in the BBC mystery drama series Jonathan Creek since 1997.
Furthermore, he is the only permanent panelist on the BBC panel show QI since 2003, outlasting his colleagues Stephen Fry (2003–16) and Sandi Toksvig (2016–present) who took over after Fry’s exit.

He landed his first job as a stand-up comedian, in 1988. The immensely talented comedian gained popularity very quickly. He was a popular figure in the stand-up arena and got the attention of the industry big names with his work in the ‘BAFTA’ Award-winning BBC production, ‘Jonathan Creek’, a mystery and crime series, which was first showcased in 1997.
Similarly, his stand-up show ‘Urban Trauma’ at the ‘Duchess Theatre’ became a super hit. Moreover, it became sold-out and was adapted for TV and even premiered on ‘BBC One in 1998.
From the late 1990s to 2002, Davies appeared in a radio sitcom ‘About a Dog’ and advertisements for the building society firm, ‘Abbey National’. In 2008, he appeared in ‘Hotel Babylon’, which was aired on ‘BBC One’.
