Ray Nagin is a former American politician, businessman, and convicted felon. From 2002 to 2010, he served as the 60th mayor of New Orleans, Louisiana.

In 2002, his career took a huge turn as he entered to be a mayor. He became the 60th mayor of New Orleans, Louisiana. When he was a mayor, Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf of Mexico in 2005.

George W. Bush was the President at that time and he declared Louisiana an emergency state. Ray took good care of his people and provided shelter as well. He said in the meeting, “I can see in your eyes, that you want to know, ‘How do I take advantage of this incredible opportunity? How do I make sure New Orleans is not overrun with Mexican workers”.

He is also popular for calling New Orleans the “Chocolate City” during the meeting because more percentage of African people resided. He was elected as a mayor of New Orleans and in 2006, he was again re-elected by 52 percent of the vote.
