He was born on the 25th of February 1949 in Memphis, Tennessee to Luther and Olive Phillips. His birth name is Fred Phillips and is of Caucasian ethnicity.

His birth parents are Luther Phillips (father) and Olive Phillips (mother).

Later, Kathleen Kinsmiller Fliehr and Richard Reid Fliehr adopted him from Tennessee Children’s Home Society. His foster father, Richard was a gynecologist, and his foster mother, Kathleen worked for the American newspaper, Star Tribune.

At the time of adaption, his foster parents named him Richard Morgan Fliehr. Later, he settled in Edina, Minnesota along with his foster parents.

– On the 10th of December 1972, he debuted as a wrestler against Scrap Iron. In the match, he adopted his name as Ric Flair.

– In 1973, he represented the American Wrestling Association (AWA) in Japan. Later, he joined All Japan Pro Wrestling leaving AWA.

– On the 17th of September 1981, he won his first NWA World Heavyweight Championship title beating Dusty Rhodes. He held the championship title for two years and lose the title in 1986 to Rhodes.

– In 1985, Ric Flair formed a tag team along with Ole and Arn Anderson. Later, they formed the group with the name Four Horsemen along with Tully Blanchard. However, the alliance of the four wrestlers was not permanent and many members joined and left the team.

– In 1991, he joined the WWF. On the 19th of January 1992, he won the title of WWF championship winning the Royal Rumble Match. However, he lost the title to Bret Hart on the 12th of October.

– In February 1993, he returned to WCW as the face of the brand. The same year, he won the NWA World Heavy Weight Championship.

– In 2003, he joined the alliance with the wrestlers like Triple H, Batista, and Randy Orton. The alliance was named Evolution. Along with the team, he won the title of the World Tag Team Championship two times.

– On the 29th of March 2008, he became the first wrestler to walk through the Hall of Frame. One day later, he retired as a wrestler losing the match against Shawn Michaela at Wrestlemania XXIV.
