Roberty Downey Jr. won the 2024 SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for his role as ‘Lewis Strauss’ in Oppenheimer.

The event took place on Saturday, February 24, at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

While delivering an acceptance speech on the stage, he honored his co-stars including Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jamie Foxx.

He was nominated for the category alongside Sterling K. Brown, Willem Dafoe, Robert De Niro, and Ryan Gosling. During his speech, he made a joke,

“Unlike my fellow nominees, I will never grow tired from the sound of my own voice.”

By the end of it all, he then went on to praise his beloved wife, Susan Downey. The actor, 58, quipped,

“Now why have I added my wife’s name to the list of super talented [actors] that I’ve learned so much from up close over these last 40 years? It’s because, for 22 years, she has flawlessly portrayed a sane and rational individual who is happily married to an actor.”

He then concluded his speech while giving a shoutout to his 12-year-old son. He said,

“Exton Elias, This one’s for you.”

In addition to winning the SAG Awards, Downey also won the Golden Globes in January 2024, where he won in the same category.

During his January speech, the actor also gave a shoutout to his “primary caregiver,” his wife Susan, whom he acknowledged for making an “art out of getting him out of his comfort zone.”

He also added that she is “easy on the eyes, so whatevs.”

Robert and Susan have been together for more than 20 years now. In 2004, the two got engaged after just a few months of dating.

A year later, they then exchanged vows in Long Island, New York in August 2005.

Last year, Robert paid a sweet anniversary tribute to his wife marking their 18th wedding anniversary. He shared a picture from their wedding and captioned it,

“18 years, love still in bloom!!”

The two shared two children a son Exton Elias, 12, and a daughter Avri Roel, 10.

Besides, Robert is also father to 30-year-old son Indio Falconer, whom he co-parents with his ex-wife, Deborah Falconer.

The former couple was married in 1992, however, their marriage didn’t last long and got separated in 2001. In 2004, their divorced was officially finalized.
