Jermaine Dupri was born on 23rd September 1972 in Asheville, North Carolina, United States. His birth name is Jermaine Dupri Mauldin. He is of British-Irish ethnicity.

His father, Michael Mauldin is a Columbia Record executive. Also, he is an Atlanta Talent Manager. His mother, Tina Mauldin (a.ka. Mosley) received the 2007 NABFEME Celebrity Mom Honoree!

– In 1992, he released the debut album, Totally Krossed Out which received 4X Platinum from RIAA. The singles; Jump and Warm It Up from the album were both written by him. The next year, he established his own label, So So Def.

– Later, he signed the rappers like Da Brat, and Mariah Carey to his recording label and released the albums like Hard Core, Funkdafield, and many more.

– In 1997, he wrote and produced several tracks for the album, My Way. The lead single, You Make Me Wanna became top on the Rhythmic Top 40 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart.

The next year, he was associated with the self-titled debut album of the American group, Destiny’s Child. 

-In 2004, he co-produced and co-wrote the fourth studio album, Confessions for the singer, Usher.

Following that, he worked with Mariah Carey on her album, The Emancipation of Mimi. 

– In 2006, he signed the Dem Franchize Boyz and Daz Dillinger to his recording label, So So Def. In 2015, he created the TV series, The Rap Game along with the rapper, Dana Elaine Owens. Three years after that, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
