Tripp became a close confidante of Monica Lewinsky while both were working in the Pentagon’s public affairs office.

After Lewinsky revealed her physical relationship with Clinton to Tripp, Linda started secretly recording phone conversations with Lewinsky. She even motivated Lewinsky to document details of her relationship with the president.

Additionally, the civil servant informed Starr about the relationship between Lewinsky and Clinton. She also informed them about the existence of a navy blue dress that Lewinsky owned that was soiled with Clinton’s semen.

Based on Tripp’s tapes, Starr received approval from Attorney General Janet Reno to expand the investigation.

Ultimately, both Clinton and Monica had to appear before a grand jury to answer questions. In the end, the jurors offered Lewinsky the chance to offer any last words where she mentioned she hate Linda Tripp.
